During Indian monsoon, humidity above 80% can make a heavy 600 GSM cotton towel take 12 hours or more to dry. Bath towels that don't fully dry between uses develop musty smells within a week and become a breeding ground for bacteria.
The two best options for quick-dry: 400 GSM 100% cotton (still plush but light enough to dry overnight) and 400–500 GSM bamboo-cotton blends (bamboo fibres wick moisture aggressively, drying noticeably faster than pure cotton).
A practical tip: rotate two quick-dry towels per person instead of one heavyweight one. Combined cost is similar and you always have a dry towel ready, even during peak monsoon.
